Product Description Our Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor detects your baby's slightest movements, even while she sleeps. While it may seem that your baby is perfectly still when she is sleeping, she really isn't. The under-the-mattress Sensor Pad detects your baby's slightest movements. If your baby goes absolutely still for 20 seconds, the Sensor Pad sends a signal to the Nursery Unit which sounds an alarm alerting you to check your baby. If you are out of the baby's room, the two portable Parents' Units (Sound Monitor) will pick up the alarm as well as other nursery sounds. In addition, the Nursery Unit has an optional "tic" feature. If the Sensor Pad senses movement, the Nursery Unit will continuously tick. If it doesn't, the ticking will stop. The two Parents' Units give you the flexibility of always leaving one in your bedroom while moving the second unit to the room you are in while your baby is sleeping. Your crib must have a hard flat surface. If it does not, just place a piece of masonite or a board under the mattress and place the Sensor Pad on top of the masonite and under the mattress. Be sure to place the correct side of the Sensor Pad facing up. The Angelcare Movement Sensor will give you the peace of mind you won't get from just a sound monitor or even a video monitor. And, this monitor is an excellent value. It is 2 monitors in 1 so you don't have to purchase a sound monitor. The Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor includes an Under-the-Mattress Sensor Pad, a Nursery Unit, 2 Parents' Units (sound monitor) and 3 AC adapters. It can also operate with 12 AAA batteries (not included).
Amazon.com Review Parents of preemies and infants at increased risk of SIDS lose a lot of sleep wondering if their babies are still breathing. Even parents of healthy babies experience this kind of anxiety. With its movement sensor pad, sound transmitter, sound lights, and movement detecting "ticking" sound, The Angelcare Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor can take away virtually all this anxiety. Three Functions, Infinite Peace of Mind The Angelcare Movement Sensor has three modes of use, enabling parents to use the sensor/sound monitor well into toddlerhood and beyond, if desired. With the Sound & Movement function, you can hear your baby's sounds, see sound lights, and hear a "tic" sound with every movement the baby makes. If no movement is detected, the "tic" will stop and after 20 seconds the alarm will sound. In the Tic Off mode you will not hear the ticking sound with every movement. However, you will still hear the baby's sounds and see sound lights, and your baby's movement is still being detected. An alarm will still sound if absolutely no movement is detected for 20 seconds. And finally, with Sound Only, the movement sensor is disabled, but you will still be able to hear your baby's sounds and see sound lights. In this mode, the Angelcare functions as a regular sound monitor. For many parents, just being able to hear the sighs and squeaks of the newest member of the family is reassurance enough. For those who need more input, for whatever reason, the additional sensory features of the Angelcare can be lifesaving. How the Angelcare Movement Sensor Works A sensor pad is placed under the center of baby's crib mattress on a flat, hard surface. The sensor pad cord passes underneath the mattress entirely, exiting the crib in the corner. It is then plugged into the jack of the nursery unit transmitter. The nursery unit can be plugged into an electrical outlet or it can operate with four AAA batteries. The same goes for the parents' unit receivers (two parents' units included). Turn the parents' units on by selecting either channel A or B. Make sure they're set to the same channel as the nursery unit. Set the nursery unit to the desired mode (Sound & Movement, Tic Off, or Sound Only). You may leave one parents' unit in your bedroom and carry the other with you as you move about the house and yard. Now, depending on the function you've selected, you'll be able to keep track of your baby's every sound and movement. Sound Lights Indicator lights on an LED sound bar (on the parents' unit) allow you to "see" your baby's sounds if background noises prevent you from hearing baby. As baby's sounds get louder, more lights illuminate. Optional "Tic" Feature When the nursery unit is set to Sound & Movement, it will continuously tick with every movement your baby makes. If no movement is detected by the sensor pad beneath baby's mattress, the ticking will stop. Movement Indicator Light The movement indicator light is located only on the nursery unit. When the nursery unit is set to Sound & Movement or Tic Off, the movement indicator light will flash green with baby's every movement. The flashing green light will let you know that movement is being detected, which will allow you to check on a sleeping baby in the dark. False Alarms False alarms are possible with the Angelcare Movement Sensor, especially if instructions have not been followed to a "t". Make sure to turn off the nursery unit after you've taken baby out of the crib. Also, once baby starts being more mobile, she may roll right off the sensor pad area of the mattress. A troubleshooting guide in the instruction manual gives other solutions to false alarms. What's in the Box Angelcare Movement Sensor includes movement sensor pad, nursery sound monitor, two parents' units, instruction manual, and three AC adapters. Twelve AAA batteries are required (not included).--Emilie Coulter
Amazon.com For parents of preemies and babies at greater risk of developing SIDS, the Angelcare Movement Sensor is a lifesaverliterally. A sensor pad goes under baby's mattress and detects baby's slightest movements, even if he is sleeping soundly. If the sensor does not pick up any movement for 20 seconds, an alarm sounds over the two portable receivers and alerts parents. Along with the sensor is a traditional baby monitor that transmits all sound from the nursery to the two receivers. The receivers have a range of up to 200 feet and have light indicators that correspond with the noise level. The monitor and receivers have two channels and low battery indicator lights. Each unit can operate either by four "AAA" batteries or AC adapter (two included). This full-spectrum monitoring system is the recipient of numerous awards and is covered by a one-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Such piece of mind... January 2, 2009 I have no negative comments about this product at all. It is very easy to set up and I have used it in a bassinet, a pack and play with a piece of MDF board as a base, and the crib. It is very portable as I just took it on vacation with me. I was so glad that I had it with me. I always test it before putting my child on it to assure that the detection level is correct. It has only sounded once and when I RAN to my child, he was in a VERY deep sleep and had shifted to the edge of his crib. I'm perfectly content with "false alarms"! I would rather that than it not go off when it should. I haven't had any issues with buzzing noises or interference. My neighbor across the street has the same monitor and we just use different channels with no problem. I would HIGHLY recommend this to any new or experienced parent...I just got this with my third child and wished that I had known about it sooner. It would have helped with those restless nights!
It May Have Saved A Life! January 1, 2009 When I first bought this, I held onto it for a while before I installed it, thinking that it was a frivolous waste of money and that I'd worry more if I had it. At the same time, I was getting very little sleep because I'd spend the night checking on the baby in her bassinet next to my bed.
I finally installed the monitor when she was a couple of months old, and it offered amazing peace of mind. If I woke up and started to worry, I could just look over at the little blinking light if I couldn't hear her breathing. I'd tell myself "if I don't hear the alarm, everything's okay," and go back to sleep.
Scroll forward a couple of months. I figured it was time to move her to her own room and crib, so I moved her and the monitor in.
That same night, I was snuggling in for my first night of sleeping without her in my room. I fell asleep and a few hours later, the alarm went off for the first time ever.
I bolted out of bed and ran into her room. She was curled up in a ball with her nose smooshed against one of the slats in the crib, not moving. As I cleared the door to reach for her, the alarm went off, making it obvious that she really had stopped breathing and had only started up again as I made noise running into the room.
My eyes are tearing up as I read this, thinking of what might have happened during her first night sleeping on her own. Thank you, manufacturers of the Bebesounds monitors. You might have saved a little, precious life.
She's now sleeping in my room again...might keep her here till she's out of kindergarten. :-)
Please read my separate reviews on installing this monitor with a Arms Reach Mini Co-sleeper, and a separate review on the evil, crowned mattress that caused her to roll into a corner.
Preemie Mom's Peace of Mind December 28, 2008 As a mom of a premature baby (2.5lbs, 2.5 months early) I was used to seeing every heartbeat and every breathe my child took listed on a monitor above his bed in the NICU. He came home after 5 weeks on an apnea monitor which helped me sleep at night those first few months. He did have apnea spells where he stopped breathing fortunately he always started on his own again. This scared me... I knew my son did stop breathing sometimes for more than 20 seconds... what if one time he didn't start. After 6 months on an apnea monitor his doctor felt it was time for him to sleep without it... the only problem I couldn't sleep without. This unit gives me peace of mind. I can watch his movement's blip on the monitor. I have never had a false alarm with it but I know some people complain about it. Trust me as a mother who has seen he son stop breathing what a relief it would be to run into the baby's room and his is breathing. Also I should remind many of those people that I was told by our neonatlogist that the alarm would usually bring our baby out of his apnea so it is very possible that those false alarms are not truely false but a baby who stopped breathing and was "alarmed" out of it. I am not worried about it going off I WOULD BE worried if it wasnt sensitive enough. My brother is a sheriff deputy and just this winter season he has gone to 2 sids deaths...anything i can do to protect my baby i will...I think all moms daycares grandmas should have one
Baby Monitor December 1, 2008 This was purchased as a gift. The proud mother of Soraya was extremely pleased with this baby monitor and said that it works perfectly.
Amazing product that gives peace of mind November 29, 2008 As new parents we find that this product gives us great peace of mind. The product works perfectly and we've had only one false alarm since we've been using it. The only gripe some people may have is that there is a beeping that sounds almost like you are in a submarine, but you will grow used to it very quickly and it doesn't seem to bother our baby. Even though SIDS is a rare condition, I think it would be foolish for anyone to take the risk of a babies life for less than a hundred bucks. As for us we are sold on the product and have already recommended it to everyone we know.
